The Role
Evidence-based advocacy, supported by campaigning, awareness, and mobilization around the issues at regional and global levels can lead to improved policies and programs that secure land rights for women, men, farmers/peasants, indigenous peoples, pastoralists, and local communities. This consultancy assignment is primarily responsible for facilitating the platforms of multi-partner advocacy and campaign events at the country and regional level and ensuring ILC Asia’s active participation in various regional and global advocacy and campaign spaces. The consultant will be responsible for tracking and supporting the development and implementation of advocacy and campaign strategies that will engage the ILC Asia members and partners to influence governments and other institutional policies and practices to achieve positive and lasting changes to influence secure land rights for women, men, farmers/peasants, Indigenous peoples, pastoralists and local communities. The position will support resource mobilization for platforms and advocacy and campaigns at the national and regional levels.
In this context, the consultant will be part of the ILC Asia team, work under the direct supervision of the Asia Regional Coordinator, in close collaboration with the regional team and the ILC Lead for Global Policy and Advocacy. Duties and responsibilities will include:
- Ensure the adequate implementation of the ILC Strategy applied to the Asia region, through the development of its strategic objective 3, and in accordance with ILC Asia Regional Work Plan. This involves supporting, facilitating and/or monitoring regional processes initiated by members through their regional platforms or by the Regional Coordination Unit, strengthening advocacy processes and regional impact.
- Coordinate with the ILC Global Policy and Advocacy team for the effective participation of the ILC Asia platform in global advocacy spaces
- Lead the advocacy and campaigns work of ILC Asia (65%)
- Resource Mobilisation for the Platforms, Advocacy and Campaign (25%)
- Collaboration with other work areas (10%)
Terms and conditions
- Type of contract: ongoing consultancy
- Duration: 1 year (renewable upon good performance and funds availability) with an initial 3 months probation period
- Duty station: Home-based and located in Asia
