In the Declaration adopted at the 2013 Global Land Forum of ILC, the members voiced their concern that "Agrarian economies are profoundly affected by corporate and other interests that are external to local territories, taking control of land, productive resources and food value chains, alienating land-users from their environment, and posing great risks of marginalizing small-scale producers and family farmers". As a follow-up to this Declaration, ILC adopted the People Centered Land Governance (PCLG) which reflects the principles of food sovereignty as reflected in the 10 commitments on PCLG.
This September 2017, selected by the ILC - Asia Steering Committee, KAFLU will host the Asia Land forum and the Asia Regional Assembly of the ILC Asia. Carrying out the Regional Assembly and Land Forum of ILC Asia in Kyrgyzstan 2017, will give the chance to discuss positive works on the realization of land reform and the available problems on land policies in Asia Region, with cross-regional exchange of Asia rangelands Initiative members (reference group) meeting and will give the chance to exchange ideas on the available best practices and to strengthen cooperation between members of ILC.
The idea of the forum is to examine and reflect on how far the people based land governance has been achieved in Asia Region. And Interchange of traditional practices and new farming practices, which positively affect the sustainability of the social and economic level of the population in Asia Region.
