Working towards these commitments

Respect, protect and strengthen the land rights of women and men living in poverty, ensuring that no one is deprived of the use and control of the land on which their well-being and human dignity depend, including through eviction, expulsion or exclusion, and with compulsory changes to tenure undertaken only in line with international law and standards on human rights.
1

Secure Tenure Rights

Respect and protect the inherent land and territorial rights of indigenous peoples, as set out in ILO Convention 169 and the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, including by recognizing that respect for indigenous knowledge and cultures contributes to sustainable and equitable development and proper management of the environment".
5

Secure territorial rights for Indigenous Peoples

Mission

AIPP works to strengthen the solidarity, cooperation and capacities of indigenous peoples in Asia in order to promote and protect their rights, cultures and identities as well as their sustainable resource management systems in order to thus favour their development and self-determination.

AIPP envisions indigenous peoples in Asia fully exercising their rights, distinct cultures and identities, so that they may live with dignity. AIPP also envisions the enhancement of sustainable management systems of lands, territories and resources in order to develop an environment of peace, justice and equality.

Objectives

The objectives include for indigenous people in Asia to have greater knowledge of their rights and to be able to advocate for their rights; to have indigenous organizations and indigenous human rights defenders increase their capacities in documentation and advocacy at the national, regional and international levels; to empower indigenous leaders and organizations in Asia to promote and defend their rights, welfare and interests; to defend the collective rights to land, territories and resources for indigenous people's as well the protection and respect for the environment; to build the capacities of indigenous women to assert, promote and protect their rights as women and as indigenous peoples.

Constituencies

AIPP works with indigenous organizations and communities, relevant regional, national and international human rights mechanisms, agencies working on indigenous issues and policy makers.
